In the first eleven months of 2024 alone, SoCal Weimaraner Rescue took in over 60 dogs, averaging 6 per month with 0 months where we didn’t have an intake. The majority of these dogs were owner surrenders (51%) with intakes from shelters or strays in a close second (31%). We rely on our network of volunteers, fosters and donors to support these efforts and ensure every dog that comes through our program gets their happy ending. 

Why Your Donation Matters:

• Overcrowded Shelters: Animal shelters Southern California are in crisis with record numbers of intakes resulting in overcrowding. This puts dogs on the fast track to euthanasia, let’s not let that happen to an adoptable Weimaraner.

• A Lifeline for Weims: Many of our owner surrenders must give up their dogs due to changes in life circumstances. We utilize our network of fosters and adopters to rehome dogs in our program without ever stepping foot into a shelter.

How Your Donation Will Be Used:

• Veterinary Care: Covering the costs of vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and treatments for any illness. Many shelters are releasing dogs unaltered, we need to cover the cost once in our care.
• Foster Care: Supporting our network of foster families who provide temporary homes for rescued Weims. We cover the cost of all food and supplies while a dog is in foster care.
• Adoption Support: Funding cost of microchipping and behavior training where warranted.
