How it Started
Milo is a "Weizsla" or Weimaraner/Vizsla mix who was an owner surrender from inland North County San Diego. Milo came to SoCal Weim Rescue at a mere one year old and needed a new home as a result of a divorce.
How it's Going
After a few different homes, sweet Milo found his forever home with his current mom and local photographer, Liz, who couldn't be happier with her new companion.
Liz writes:
I had a 13 year old Weim who passed last December. I took it really hard and didn’t think I’d be ready for another dog for a long time...I’d check the SCWR website occasionally, but still didn’t feel ready and didn’t see a dog that felt like just the right fit, until I saw Milo. When I saw his picture and read his description I felt like he sounded like just the perfect dog for me, and I applied right away for him. I even spoke with his owner over the phone. A few days later I found out he went to someone else who wanted to foster-to-adopt. I was out of the country and wouldn’t have been able to meet him for another week anyway, but I was disappointed for sure.
While out of the country the next week I checked the website again and couldn’t believe it but Milo was back on the site! I emailed SCWR right away and said I could meet him as soon as I returned from my trip. To my luck he was being fostered in San Diego not far from where I live and I was able to meet him the day after I returned! I felt we were a great match for each other but tried not to get my hopes up again - but on my drive home the fosters called me and said they felt we were a good fit too! I was able to bring him home the next day.
I feel so lucky to have him in my life, the timing wasn’t what I thought it’d be but he is just a wonderful dog and we’ve had a great time getting to know each other! We get out to the park or beach every day, and he is such a good and sweet boy at home. I’m looking forward to many more years of fun, love and adventures together.
